PLMA 2026: the unstoppable rise of private label

Speaking to Italianfood.net at PLMA 2026 in Amsterdam, Peggy Davies, President of PLMA, highlighted the incredibly bright future of private label across Europe and Italy, marked by a record presence of Italian exhibitors showcasing everything from regional appetizers to innovative desserts like matcha tiramisu. As retailers move beyond regional sourcing to find unique, store-exclusive products, packaging and product innovation have become the ultimate tools to secure long-term customer loyalty.

Facing a completely sold-out venue with limited physical space, the organizers achieved a major strategic win this year by relocating the “World of Private Label” feature area to Hall G. Opening early due to high demand, this reshuffle successfully accommodated 110 new food and non-food exhibitors. This focus on maximizing the show’s footprint mirrors the success of PLMA’s upcoming Chicago event in November, where international exhibitors—heavily driven by global demand for authentic Italian manufacturing—now make up 50% of the show floor, establishing a perfect balance with the historic domestic exhibitor base.
