The overall number of sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) alerts rose in 2025, but notifications made by the European Union fell compared to the year before.
In 2025, 2,496 SPS notifications were made by World Trade Organization (WTO) members, which was a 16 percent increase compared to 2,147 in 2024.
