Olio Garda PDO Charms Osaka

At the heart of Expo 2025 Osaka, Italy, spotlighted one of its most refined agri-food exports during Agriculture Week on 6 June. At the Italy Pavilion, Olio Garda PDO took centre stage in a dual tasting event featuring Italian PDO cheeses and a curated selection of PDO and PGI extra virgin olive oils.

Far more than a standard promotional event, the tasting was conceived as a sensory journey through Italy’s culinary heritage, a “liquid bridge” linking two cultures with a shared reverence for quality and craftsmanship.

The event coincided with the high-level conference “Geographical Indications: A Bridge between Italy and Japan”, organized by the Qualivita Foundation and Origin Italia with the support of Italy’s Ministry of Agriculture. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among Japanese consumers of the value and distinctiveness of Italy’s geographically protected food products.

Representing the Garda region, the Consortium for the Protection of Olio Garda PDO presented an oil renowned for its elegance, balance, and delicate fruity notes. Its reception among Japanese visitors reinforced the growing international appeal of Italian PDO products.

We are proud to participate in events of such international calibre and grateful to Origin Italia for this opportunity,” said Simone Padovani, President of the Olio Garda PDO Consortium. “Japanese consumers have shown a particular sensitivity to authenticity and quality values that are at the heart of Olio Garda PDO.”
