Italian tomato processor Mutti reported a 13 per cent rise in full-year revenue to €703mn in 2024, fuelled by robust demand in international markets where exports accounted for nearly 60 per cent of total sales by value.
The privately held, Parma-based company — a leader in Europe’s tomato products segment — said it processed 565,000 tonnes of tomatoes during the year, with sales volumes climbing 6.6 per cent to 371,000 tonnes. Export volumes totalled 223,000 tonnes. EBITDA reached €45.5mn, while the group’s net financial position improved significantly to -€68mn, from -€120mn in 2023.
Europe remains Mutti’s largest market, generating 80 per cent of turnover. France is the company’s second-largest market after Italy, with sales surpassing €100mn in 2024 and a 16.2 per cent market share. Germany posted revenue of €73mn, up 39 per cent year on year, while the UK and Ireland together generated €22mn, a 38 per cent increase. Poland, where Mutti launched a dedicated commercial subsidiary at the start of 2025, recorded €25mn in revenue last year, becoming the company’s third-largest market for tomato products with a 10.9 per cent share by value.
Outside Europe, the company saw revenue grow 32 per cent in the US to €25mn. In Australia, where it holds a leading 22.5 per cent market share, sales reached €46mn. Mutti products are now sold in 100 countries. The proportion of international revenue has steadily increased in recent years, rising from 53 per cent in 2023 to 59 per cent in 2024 — a reversal of the company’s historical dependence on its home market.
Chief executive Francesco Mutti said 2024 had been a difficult year due to severe weather in northern Italy that reduced tomato yields, coupled with broader global headwinds. “Nonetheless, our financial results reflect a dynamic and resilient business, capable of responding with focus and commitment,” he said. The group aims to further expand its global presence in the coming years, with a continued focus on strategic growth in key markets.
