Mulino Bianco Marks Its 50th Anniversary

Barilla’s sweet bakery brand, Mulino Bianco, is continuing its 50th-anniversary celebrations with the launch of the “50 Years of Good Memories” campaign. Since its inception in 1975, the brand has become a staple of Italian culture, offering more than 140 bakery products across six production facilities.

On 17 June, Mulino Bianco paused production for two hours at its plants in Novara, Ascoli, Cremona, Melfi, and Rubbiano, allowing nearly 1,900 employees to come together to share memories and celebrate the brand’s legacy. The event highlighted the human stories behind the products, from early career experiences to technological advancements and bonds forged on the production lines.

Since launching its first range of biscuits — including Tarallucci, Molinetti, and Macine — Mulino Bianco has built a lasting connection with consumers through memorable campaigns and iconic brand elements such as the Piccolo Mugnaio Bianco character and the “Sorpresine” collectibles.

Today, the brand’s portfolio spans over 140 SKUs, produced across 50 production lines covering more than 1.18 million square metres of factory space. The workforce of 1,892 employees remains central to its ongoing innovation and market leadership.

To honour those who have contributed to its success, Mulino Bianco presented employees with a commemorative maxi-pack featuring the Piccolo Mugnaio Bianco shortbread, symbolising the brand’s enduring heritage.

Carolina Diterlizzi, Marketing Vice President at Mulino Bianco, said: “Mulino Bianco has earned a special place in the daily lives and memories of Italians thanks to the passion and dedication of its people. This milestone is a celebration of their commitment, which continues to drive the brand’s evolution and relevance.”
