Mindful Snacking Takes Priority for Global Consumers

According to new findings from the sixth annual State of Snacking report published by Mondelēz International last June, consumers worldwide are maximizing their snacking moments by savoring flavor, taste, and texture while ensuring full mindfulness. Developed in partnership with The Harris Poll, the study tracks the snacking behaviours of thousands of consumers across 12 countries.

The 2024 report highlights that nearly all consumers pay close attention to portion sizes and the importance of being present and mindful while enjoying snacks.

Mindful consumption and consumer preferences:

96% of global consumers engage in “mindful snacking.”

79% agree that they enjoy snacks more when consumed mindfully.

81% focus on the sensory experience of their snacks, appreciating taste, flavour, and texture.

69% of global consumers seek snacks with controlled portion sizes.

Melissa Davies, Senior Manager of Global Insights & Trendspotting at Mondelēz International, comments: “Consumers are making more intentional choices about how they enjoy their favourite snacks. People are looking to balance pleasure and well-being, driving a shift toward more mindful eating. Smaller portions offer a way to enjoy favourite snacks without overindulging. Many consumers are adopting a more conscious approach to their eating habits, without sacrificing the pleasure of their snacking moments.”
