Plans to create Scottish-specific pathogen thresholds have been dropped, according to an update on foodborne illness in the country.
Food Standards Scotland (FSS) said it would follow the approach set for the United Kingdom by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
It has been estimated that the burden for the UK economy from foodborne illness is around £9.1 billion ($12.2 billion), which equates to £750 million ($1 billion) in Scotland.
