Asiago PDO has been named the most awarded Italian cow’s milk cheese at the 2025 Great Taste Awards, securing seven accolades at the globally recognised food and drink competition.
The PDO cheese from the Veneto-Trentino region impressed the judging panel with its fresh and aged varieties. Among the winners were three niche wheels of Fresco—Riserva, others made with vegetable rennet, and a version produced exclusively with milk from Brown Cows—as well as four long-aged types.
Organized by the UK-based Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Awards are regarded as one of the most prestigious international competitions in the food & beverage sector. This year marks the first time Asiago PDO has received seven awards in a single edition, earning two two-star ratings and five one-star distinctions following a rigorous blind-tasting process involving chefs, critics, buyers, and food professionals.
Among the standout entries were Asiago PDO Stravecchio from Caseificio Pennar and Asiago PDO Vecchio from Latterie Venete, each awarded two stars. Additional one-star winners included Stagionato Stravecchio cheese from Caseificio San Rocco and Asiago PDO Stravecchio from Latterie Venete.
“These results confirm the growing international appreciation for our product among high-end food connoisseurs,” said Fiorenzo Rigoni, President of the Protection Consortium. “They also highlight the importance of promoting awareness of niche varieties and long-aged styles through targeted efforts abroad.”
