DalterFood Group, a leading producer of Parmigiano Reggiano PDO based in Sant’Ilario d’Enza (Reggio-Emilia), reported consolidated revenues of €176 million in 2024, up 10.7% from the previous year, with sales volumes exceeding 14,000 tonnes, a 10% increase. Growth was driven by strong international demand, with 83% of total revenue generated abroad.
Despite headwinds from adverse pricing dynamics—particularly in the Parmigiano Reggiano segment—that weighed on margins, the group maintained a solid competitive position across key markets including Germany, the UK, and France.
OVERSEAS DIVISIONS POWER GROWTH
DalterFood’s foreign subsidiaries made significant contributions to the group’s performance:
VIP Italia GmbH (Germany) reported €63.4 million in revenue (+3.2%).
Dalter UK Ltd posted €53 million (+12.8%).
The company also grew its workforce to 189 employees, reflecting continued investment in structured, long-term expansion.
‘LIGHTS AND SHADOWS’ IN 2024
“2024 was a year of lights and shadows,” said Andrea Guidi, DalterFood Group’s General Manager. “While price volatility in the Parmigiano Reggiano market compressed margins and led to results below expectations, growth in revenue and volumes enabled us to retain a strong competitive stance.”
He emphasized the group’s longstanding expertise, commitment to quality and sustainability, and its distinctive product portfolio centered around its integrated Parmigiano Reggiano PDO supply chain.
POSITIVE OUTLOOK FOR 2025
The company reports encouraging signs in early 2025, with rising revenues, stronger volume sales, and improving margins thanks to more favorable cost-price dynamics. DalterFood plans to continue investing in production capacity, technology, and sustainability to reinforce its leadership and global presence.
FOCUS ON QUALITY, DIVERSIFICATION, AND CERTIFICATION
DalterFood’s product range—anchored by mountain-produced Parmigiano Reggiano PDO—includes Grana Padano PDO, Pecorino Romano PDO, Mozzarella, Burrata, and a growing selection of gourmet, vegan, and vegetarian options. The group aims to retain key certifications, including BRC, IFS, FDA, Organic, and Mountain Product Quality, while also working with farmers to strengthen animal welfare standards across its supply chain.
DALTERFOOD INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENERGY INVESTMENT
To support growing demand, the group is scaling up infrastructure and enhancing energy efficiency. New solar installations will soon go live at its Sant’Ilario d’Enza plant and the Colline del Cigarello e Canossa dairy, joining an existing system at its Selvapiana facility. The company aims to self-generate at least 20% of its energy needs by the end of 2025.
