Food as a tool for peace — both in the face of armed conflict and mounting trade tensions — will take centre stage at this year’s Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, where Coldiretti, Italy’s largest agricultural organisation, will lead a series of initiatives promoting sustainable farming and authentic Italian food.
Together with “Campagna Amica” and “Filiera Italia,” Coldiretti will be present at the opening of the Italy Pavilion (Level 3, booths 2718–2825) at the Javits Center on Sunday, 29 June at 11:00 AM.
“In a world increasingly shaped by geopolitical tensions, food can and must become a tool for peace,” the organisation said in a statement. “Supporting agriculture, protecting the environment, and ensuring the right to healthy nutrition are the foundations for building genuine dialogue among nations.”
An inaugural panel, “The Excellence of the Italian Food Model,” will follow at 11:45 AM, highlighting Italy’s agricultural strengths and the global appeal of its supply chain model.
Beyond diplomacy, Coldiretti’s presence in New York also reflects the sector’s ongoing concerns about access to U.S. markets, particularly in the wake of trade tariffs introduced during the Trump administration.
On Monday, 30 June at 12:30 PM, a second event — “Italian Geographical Indications: A Guarantee of Quality for U.S. Consumers” — will explore the importance of origin labelling and product authenticity in an increasingly competitive market. The session will conclude with the signing of a partnership agreement between Coldiretti and “I Love Italian Food,” aimed at advancing the global reach of Italy’s agri-food exports.
