Franciacorta Exports Rise 5.3% in 2025

In 2025, Franciacorta wine recorded sales of 18.9 million bottles, marking a slight 1% decline compared with 2024. The average retail shelf price remained stable at €24.45 per bottle, underlining the denomination’s ability to maintain pricing power despite softer volumes.

While the domestic market continues to account for the majority of sales of the Italian sparkling wine from Lombardy, exports emerged as the key growth driver. Exports represented 12.8% of total volumes and increased by 5.3% year on year.

Switzerland strengthened its position as Franciacorta’s leading foreign market, accounting for 22.7% of exports, up 8.4%. Japan posted a particularly strong performance, with shipments rising 22.4%, while the United States grew by 1.7% despite ongoing tariff-related challenges. The figures emerge from the Franciacorta Consortium’s Economic Observatory, which highlights the denomination’s growing resilience in international markets.

The signals coming from 2025 confirm Franciacorta as an increasingly solid and competitive player in international markets,” said Emanuele Rabotti, President of the Consortium. “The growth in exports, price stability, and the consistent quality of the product demonstrate that the value built over time by our wineries continues to be fully recognised.”

In a further sign of its international ambitions, the Consortium took part for the first time in the 2026 edition of Wine Paris, from 9 to 11 February, with a dedicated collective area hosting 30 wineries, alongside eight additional exhibiting producers.

Despite a marginal contraction in overall volumes, the data point to a denomination that is consolidating its premium positioning abroad, leveraging brand equity and quality consistency to expand its global footprint.
